Abstract

Artificial Intelligence AI tools in recent times have been integrated into organisational communication, and this is reshaping how institutions engage with stakeholders. Public and private institutions globally are faced with modernization and AI tools provide the much-needed ease and knowledge base required by such organizations. This study examines the use of AI in organisational communications frameworks with focus on the perceived inherent risks and ethical implications of integrating AI tools and why most have chosen to opt out of using them. The research also investigates why organizations are operating without utilising AI-driven technology to enhance both internal and external communication, assessing its impact on efficiency, transparency and trust. The research examines the experience of organizations and businesses in a Nigerian context in response to global trends, while considering the unique socio-cultural, regulatory, and infrastructural challenges of implementing AI in public and private sector communication in Nigeria. Using a probability sampling approach, the research relies on data collected from a questionnaire to explore the extent of AI integration, perceived benefits, implementation challenges, and ethical concerns. Findings from this study are expected to inform responsible AI adoption strategies, ensuring that innovation align with ethical governance and citizen-centred communication practices in Nigeria.
